Tybee Polar Plunge

| The Tybee Polar Plunge returns to Tybee Island on Jan. 1, 2023! Join thousands of brave souls and take the plunge into the brisk Atlantic Ocean at 12 noon on New Year’s Day. It’s a great way for the entire family to start off the New Year!
For the past 24 years, the annual New Year’s Day Tybee Polar Plunge has been held at the Tybee Pier and Pavilion, where many would gather to stampede together into the chilly waters of the Atlantic Ocean en masse. The last two years forced the annual event to be brrrtual, but this year, the event is back to an in-person day of fun. This year marks the first time the Tybee Post Theater is partnering with Tybee Island Main Street. The Development Authority/Main Street Program is an inclusive program through the City of Tybee Island that focuses on economic development within the context of historic preservation in a balanced fashion.
