The Savannah Book Festival

February 15 - February 18

Savannah Book Festival

The Savannah Book Festival (SBF) is an annual event in celebration of the written word and its role in improving the human experience. Our mission is to promote reading, writing and civil conversation. Since the first Savannah Book Festival in 2008, SBF has presented an array of nationally-acclaimed authors to crowds of book-loving attendees through our ticketed Headliner Addresses and our free Festival Saturday.

Our four-day Festival takes place over the course of a sunny Presidents’ Day Weekend, against the backdrop of stunning historic buildings, cascading Spanish moss, and blooming Azaleas. Each year, over 9,000 people join us for three ticketed Headliner Address events and our free Festival Saturday, which features over 30 authors appearing at six unique historic venues around Downtown Savannah.

The Opening, Keynote, and Closing Addresses are ticketed events presented in the Historic Trustees Theater in Downtown Savannah. The 2024 Headliners are Ruth Ware, Jeannette Walls and David Grann. Learn more about our 2024 Headliners here:  “Meet the Authors”.   Headliners give a 45-minute pesentation on their creative process and their writing life, followed by a Q&A and book signing.

The 2024 Festival hosts 31 Festival Saturday (February 17, 2024) authors whose individual presentations are free and open to the public. Award-winning and debut authors such as Alice McDermott, Tim O’Brien, S.A. Cosby, and Jenny Jackson will provide 30–35-minute presentations followed by a 10-15 minute Q&A across six Downtown venues. For the special 30th Anniversary Edition of Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil, author John Berendt will be returning to Savannah as a participating Festival Saturday author.
