July 4
Savannah’s Waterfront will be hosting its annual Independence Day Celebration on Thursday, July 4th. This event is open to all, with no entry fee, and metered parking downtown will be free for the day. Several waterfront restaurants will be providing food and drink specials.
The 3rd Infantry Division Band, based at Fort Stewart in Hinesville, GA, is scheduled to perform on Rousakis Riverfront Plaza at 7:30 pm. The band also travels throughout the southeast United States as a goodwill ambassador for the United States Government. This organization has performed in Africa, France, Italy, Central Europe, Korea, Iraq and Afghanistan.
The Independence Day Fireworks Show will kick off at 9:30 pm, with an estimated duration of 20 minutes. Attendees at the waterfront are encouraged to bring chairs and blankets, but refrain from bringing coolers. The fireworks will be launched from a barge in the Savannah River, with the Savannah Convention Center serving as the backdrop. River Street and the ramps will close at 6:30pm, and cars parked on the ramps and parking lots will need to remain there until the street opens to vehicular traffic after the show.
