Inspires with Fall Exhibitions

Savannah College of Art and Design presents a distinctive art experience this fall at the renowned SCAD Museum of Art (SCAD MOA) in Savannah, Georgia. This season SCAD MOA explores the power of human experience and the enduring relationship between artists and the world around them. Guests will be inspired by dynamic new exhibitions, while visiting artists take part in dedicated programming including gallery talks, panels, lectures, performances, and film screenings.

New exhibitions include:

· No Simple Matter, a group exhibition on display June 26 through November 18, 2024, featuring contemporary work from the SCAD MOA permanent collection.

· Anthony Olubunmi Akinbola’s Good Hair features the Nigerian American artist’s most ambitious work and runs August 23 through December 22, 2024, presenting repurposed everyday objects associated with Black hair to convey broader sociopolitical implications.

· Dan Flavin’s legendary creations based on interactions between light and space will be on view in Works from Dia Art Foundation, from September 12, 2024 through January 6, 2025.

· Film and sculptural artist Monira Al Qadiri examines the Persian Gulf region’s complex past in the installation Holy Quarter, running August 23 through December 23, 2024. Commissioned by SCAD · Visitors will experience SUBMERGE, an exhibition by SCAD f ibers alumni Anya Molyviatis from August 30 through November 25, 2024.

· Arboretum, by artist collaborators Thukral and Tagra, contemplates the intersection of the digital and natural worlds, on view July 31 through December 30, 2024.

· Artist and designer Olimpia Zagnoli, world-renowned for her iconic pop-deco illustrations, brings her installation Multifaceted to the public-facing jewelry boxes located on the exterior of the SCAD Museum of Art.

· A Love Letter honors the beloved American fashion designer Isabel Toledo, who passed away in 2019, with a homage to the enduring resonance of her work.

· George Clinton’s exhibition Cloaked in a Cloud, Disguised in the Sky will be on view September 26, 2024 through January 27, 2025.

An award-winning architectural marvel, the SCAD Museum of Art attracts visitors from around the world to the heart of Savannah’s vibrant downtown historic district and incorporates the oldest surviving pre-Civil War railroad depot into its striking contemporary design.
